If you’re a subscriber of DirecTV, you can get the free DIRECTV Everywhere app, opening a new world of mobile entertainment. It works as advertised and is simple to use and navigate. Watch movies and show wherever you are, whenever you want, on your iPad or smartphone.
You can also watch live television anywhere in your home, turn your iPad into a remote control, and program your DVR. This will not interrupt any programming currently showing on any television in your house.

I’m a bit confused, as some of the sites I’ve visited tell me this only works on iOS. It says here, however, that it works on Smartphones too; what does that include? I have the Dish remote Access app, and was actually selected by Dish to do an employee beta-test. It works on Android, iOS, Tablets and more. I can take my live TV and DVR with me everywhere I go, and would like to know if the DTV app works with android et al.
According to the Press release they do have an Android app. I don’t use DTV so can’t check but it appears there is one.
Only a very tiny subset of your subscribed programming is available for viewing online. In some cases, like TBS, they direct you to the network’s website where you find they have mobile apps but nothing to allow you to view on your computer. Going to the Google Play Store for TBS, I find the TBS app is rated mostly 1 star and pretty much doesn’t work. This DirecTV service is not a substitute for a Slingbox in any way. It also does not give you access to any content on your DirecTV DVR. For me, it’s useless.
Plus the Live Tv won’t work outside od your home network. Not truely a slinging thing like Directv advertises
