Hi!

I have a pretty simple need to placeshift from a DirecTV DVR setup.

Main use would be simply placeshifting in my house on a local network so I could watch TV in different rooms and not have to purchase more receivers, dishes, etc.

One confusion I have is to hookup – I am using composite + digital optical out off of the DirectTV DVR into my receiver, and none of the commercial placeshifters have digital optical – do I have to use stereo out? I don't mind only placeshifting the stereo component, but I don't want to lose the 5.1 for in place viewing – will the DirectTV DVR output both?

Assuming that all works, any recommendations on Sling v Monsoon v ?? Or is that simply choosing the features that I want, and the polish on same?
