Hi,

I've been looking for the best place to post this but was told the general discussion board was that place so here goes – I tried to make a remote on remotes.slingbox.com but it does not work as the IR blast after it 'learns' does not seem to have any effect (heard this from others). Then I looked for already released remotes that may fit – nothing at all. SO I hope to improve my luck:

There are two boxes – one partially supported, the other one not at all (one would be enough):

- The older box is a Yes Max (Israel satellite) manufacturer I believe is ADB  though it says UCE on the sticker..). The remote that exists (YES) does not have the controls for the DVR remote that is the same only with play, pause, FF, RW buttons that are missing.

Now there is now a newer box that supports HD with VOD that doesn't have a remote at all not even a basic one. Ideally, that would be the one I would love to have and just throw the old box away. That remote model is YES – A.D.B 7820SX

I would really appreciate help on this.

Thanks in advance !

Take a look at the Readme text file included in the Downloaded Zip file. That should explain things but if need help afterwards let us know.

Brandon -

First of all thanks a lot – this IS the remote for Yes Max HD – the box I thought would never be controllable works perfectly.

I am trying, though, to figure out if there is a remote for the basic DVR that does the FF RW and Pause as there are two non HD boxes – one just set top box, the other is a DVR. In my case I do have an Yes Max HD (the one that the custom remote works with) but I use it for my in home viewing. I have a separate Yes Max (the basic non HD DVR) that I use for Slingbox viewing but as I mentioned it does not have a proper remote – only the one for the basic box without the DVR controls. This new remote you've referred me to only works with the YES MAX HD.

SO the situation right now where I can connect to Yes Max HD and control recordings is much better than before, but if I could use the basic DVR, I would prefer it as this is a slingbox Solo that is not HD anyway and this is a DVR not in any other use.

Thanks again!

Can the actual Physical remote control the older box or will it just control the Max HD? If so you may be able to use that same remote code or at least get closer to what you want.

Brandon,

No unfortunately it can not control the old box – I tried it and the box does not respond (in fact I knew the IR code were different from the basic Yes Max after talking to Sling Israel – if you ask them they say there is no remote that controls YES MAX HD at all only the basic Set Top Box which can be used for the basic non HD DVR version as well, but not control the DVR functions…

So, the codes are shared in the old box in both the basic set top box and the DVR box (only difference are these navigation buttons for DVR). A physical remote for yes set top box works on yes Max (DVR non HD) and vice versa, non of them work with the HD version, thus the non HD with DVR controls is the one missing.

I can tell you that there has been a log of disgruntle about it on Israeli sites and I really tried helping people but was not able to create a new remote and sling could care less about this…

You could try some of the HOT remotes by selecting it in the Slingplayer setup. That may work. If not we would probably need the exact model number or the box and maybe a picture of your physical remote.

Thanks. I've tried the HOT remotes – the cable company and they don't seem to work at all. The box doesn't have a more exact number than the one I gave initially. The remote is proprietary YES looks similar to the YES that comes up when you choose "Yes" standard remote except it has these play, FF RW Pause buttons.

I am attaching the photo of the remote – really hope it helps. in the slignbox setup when you choose 'YES', provides that very similar remote (only without those navigation buttons critical for DVR) that work on this model so perhaps if you look at the setup, choose satellite box then 'Yes' you will see this exact remote with the missing controls that the sliver one does have

I hope this will help and thank you again,

Yoav

I was hoping Alan R. would jump in and see if he could help. From what I can tell it should be possible to use your 'almost' working remote and add some extra functions to it.

Hopefully he will come across this post soon.

Thanks for your help, hope this will happen soon it could mean a major improvement for people who have given up on Slingbox doing this for a long time (I've seen requests for it on Israeli sites for 4 years…)

I was just biding my time Laugh

However, I must say I have found this thread terribly confusing.  I thought originally that there were just 2 boxes, an HD DVR 7820, which is now sorted, and an older non-HD DVR which you could not operate because the virtual remote had no 'transport' buttons.

But then you started talking about "…in the old box in both the basic set top box and the DVR box..".  So are there 3 boxes ?   Or does the basic set top box not have a DVR ?  Where did this basic set top box come into the equation ?

I'm confused Smile   Can you say EXACTLY what we are trying to achieve.

And can you confirm that this BIN file (which I know doesn't have DVR buttons yet) works with the old box ?   YES Israel sat box  (Do the same procedure of putting it in the \SBAV\ folder, running the video setup and using C0310 as the code)

Cheers

Al

Alan,

Thanks for jumping in and I apologize for the confusion.

Basically, Yes 3 boxes that are in use and that I am aware of:

1. a basic SD set top box

2. a SD set top box + DVR called 'Yes Max'

3. an HD  set top box + DVR (no HD set top box witout DVR) called 'Yes Max HD'.

The new codes that Brandon has referred me to match #3 – Yes Max HD and work great with it.

For #1 if you choose the 'YES' option in the standard slingbox 'manufacturer model' menu this works fine.

Where I wasn't able to find a solution was #2. Now #2 and #1 are almost identical and use the exact same codes except that #1 as is not a DVR and thus does not have the DVR controls (play, pause, FF, RW) which you can see in the photo I attached. What I am looking for is a remote for #2 which is really a remote with the same codes as #1 + these control buttons.

From the 'bottom line' of what you wrote I think this is also what you eventually understood from what I was trying to say but were not sure about it.

Now I dowonloaded the file from the link you gave me, replacing the 2 files for Yes Max HD in the same folder and used C0310 as the custom code but it does not seem to work with either #1 or #2. I'm not sure but perhaps in the remote past YES had an older box that is not in use any more and this C0310 matches that…

So essentially what I guess I need right now is the stadard YES remote that sling publishes as the only YES remote available there PLUS these control buttons.

Thank you again and I hope it is clearer right now..:)

Yes, perfectly clear.   And I found a DVR called YES Max, but unfortunately it uses the identical codes to the C0310 BIN file you tried so there is no point in trying that again.

Having said that, you obviously didn't check the Readme file that I put in the 7820 remote, particularly the bit that says:  "…If you have problems please do NOT just report back it 'doesn't work', that is totally useless for someone trying to understand what is going on.  So please report the following:…." Smile

So, can you do that for the C0310 BIN file ?
