Oh sure what I meant to say by it not working was that the DVR does not respond to the keys I press on the virtual remote. The commands seem to go through (I see the bottom screen saying 'controlling')  but there is not response from the DVR. Incidentally, it does not say 'controlling' when I choose the play/pause/ff/rw buttons, which does make me think that this is a non DVR set of codes.

Let me also elaborate that I followed the same instructions as for the YES – A.D.B 7820SX when setting it up, so I put the file you referred me to inside the SBAV directory and that this C0310_PL is the only file in that directory (with the ADB 7820 there were 2 files here I replaced them with just the one). Also, I followed the same setup instructions so 'configure video sources' then chose 'composite' then 'standalone DVR' then manufacturer chose 'other' model 'other', select code 'C0310'.

Now there is an option after the code entry to 'test remote POWER' (I guess press the power button). When I chose that I got a message 'custom remote not found. Please try a different code'. However, when I hit 'Next' anyway I get a message 'no update found please click next to continue'. Then I get a message 'your slingbox is now configured to work with your standalone DVR….. Click Apply to save these settings. I hit apply and this finishes the setup.

Then I go back to controlling using the remote and getting the 'controlling' indication but no reaction on the DVR.

So there is that error message on the way when I click 'power', there is also the fact that I am replacing the 2 files with the one I mentioned (the Yes Max HD has the two files that come with it) and finally that 'controlling' which produces nothing. These are all of the 'suspects' I can find in this process and I guess I am describing it in as much detail as I hope would be enough for you to realize the meaning of this all…

Let me know if I can add anything else.

Thanks,

Yoav

Sorry for the delay, but I don't seem to be getting notifications of postings anymore.

And also the "Quote" button doesn't work for me, I cannot edit the Reply screen, so I will have to live with that.

Right, your first statement is a classic example of why you MUST check the Readme file.  Contrary to what you said, the problem wasn't that the DVR isn't reacting, it is the fact that the Remote is not being installed (hence the error message – not found).   So it is no wonder the DVR doesn't react.

Secondly, the PL BIN file is for US-manufactured boxes or the Pro-HD.  So you must have a European non-HD box.   So we need to try it with both files.  Here is the RV file  Hopefully you won't get the error message this time.

Ignore the "No Update found" message.  That relates to the Remote 'image' displayed on the screen and you either have that already or Sling have not built one.

If I seem to be ignoring you , remind me at alan@rmrsoft.com

Alan,

Thanks again – I downloaded the RV file and inserted it into the same folder as the other file. This time when I clicked 'power' to test the on/off btton I did not get an error message, however the DVR would not turn itself off. I followed the next steps exactly as before with no error indication aywhere but when it was done with the process, I connected to the box again and it would not respond to changing the channels or to any other button (it did indicate 'contrlolling' as before). Please let me know what else I can try… Incidentally, does the fact that the standard 'YES' remote that sling provides works (but without the controls) any help with figuring out what codes this box actually does respond to?

Thanks a lot!

It would, as I could install it and learn the codes from my blaster, but I am on holiday, away from my kit, for a month.   Can you do some learns at http://remotes.slingbox.com ?  If you save the remote and send me the LRZ file I can analyze it.
