I managed to improve my upload from 1500kbps to around 3000kbps by changing my MTU to a more optimal number, but it looks like the improvement undoes itself whenever I close the webplayer tab/window and I need to restart the router for it to take effect again. The second time I try watching, I get 1500kbps again.
Is there something I can do to make it work permanently?
Much thanks to anyone that can shed light on this.

I made the change to the router of the network that my slingbox is on.
The original value was 1454, the new one is 1444.
Also, if it helps I'm using a pro-HD with fiber 100mb upload in Japan and watching from the US with 20mb download.

I’m chasing a MTU problem from my Slingbox in Japan as well. What I believe the MTU is constrained somewhere in the path and the router is not fragmenting properly.
You may be experiencing a similar issue. If your packet is too large, the intermediate device will be forced to fragment the packet as it hits the smaller MTU. If your packet is marked with an option of Don’t Fragment, it will just drop it.
I cannot explain why you only get a one-time benefit before you need to reboot your router.
You could try to remove the port-forwarding configuration of your router and that will force your connection from TCP to UDP (aka SNATT).
If you don’t have access to your remote Slingbox, block the port (default TCP 5001) at your remote US router. That will have the same effect.
See if that makes any improvement.

Try checking and setting the MTU on the receiving end and see if that helps.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the receiving end settings right now. I'm currently in Japan and testing using a portable hotspot (40mbps down), which doesn't really allow me to access any settings. I'd usually remote access my desktop in the US, but I turned it off since I planned on being in Japan for months. I'll be back in 2 weeks, so I guess I can try it then.

I've tried setting 5001 to UDP only in the past, but that didn't really change anything. Right now I have port forwarding turned off in the router settings.

Wierdo,
Any update on improving your streaming speed? I have a similar setup: slingbox in japan and watching in us. My speeds also cap out around 1800 to 1900. Any advice would be helpful.
