two slingbox pro hd in one location

I have two slingbox pro hd set up in one location and they are hooked up to two same satellite receivers with two ir blasters pointed to.  I am able to do internet viewing for both slingboxes.  But the remote control will not work properly.  When I control one device, the other gets controlled too.  At first I thought it was the ir blaster on one device send signal to the other device as they are tow close.  So I asked someone to put a piece of paper between the two ir blasters.  It won't work.

I now suspect it has to do with the network sending the signal to both device simultaneously.  What I meant was that when I send remote signal from my slingplayer, it gets transmitted to the router, and then gets forwarded to the slingbox.  But since I have two slingboxes on the same location, could it be that the signal gets forwarded to both slingboxes, instead of just the correct one?

If so, how can I resolve it?

I would recommend using only one IR "head" for every receiver. You should also use cardboard or plastic instead of paper.

I managed to find the proper material to shield the ir signals and it is aluminum foil.

I now have a second question, which is about qos of the two slingboxes.

If I want the two slingboxes to share the bandwidth equally when they are both on line, do I set them to the same priority in qos?

I am using ddwrt btw, and it has a feature to set priority by ip address/range.

You can set the max bitrate or QOS for each but the SlingPlayer does automatically adjust for best speed picture r you can manually set it in the player setup.

But you could limit the upload speed for them in your router depending on the upload speed you have. For example if you have an upload speed of 2,500Kbps you could limit each to something like 1,200. But then if only watching one you would not get the best upload speed you could have available.

The build of the ddwrt I am using, it does not have the feature to set the max birate by ip address/range.  What it has is just set the priority by ip range, mac addresses, or service( like skype, slingbox, etc)

As mentioned, I set the two slingbox ip to express priority.  DDWRT have priority in 5 levels:  exempt, bulk, standard, express, and premium, with express at the second highest level.

My goal is to allow the bandwidth to be shared equally when the two slingboxes are both online.

It does allow me to set the max uplink rate and I set it to 4200kpbs as my current upload is maxed at 5000kbps.

I am not sure if my setup will do the job that I hope it will do.

I don't think you can specifically set a max upload per IP or mac with the free DD-Wrt. You might be able to do so with one of the Tomato Firmwares if they are available for your router.
