My Slinbox classic started acting up, I touched original power supply HK-A112-A06 and it was burning hot and melted on one side. I opened the Slingbox and checked the capacitors inside. All four were ok. I opened the power supply and it had the capacitors goo all over inside it and smells bad and it really burned out.

I think that power supply should not burn out even after couple of years of continuous use. It is a safety issue.

It seems I am not alone – US Consumer Product Safety Commission has reports on it:

I called and also reported it as an safety issue.

Please if your power supply failed, call US Consumer Product Safety Commission at

  • PHONE: 800-638-2772  and report it. It is about time we forced Slingbox to finally face up this problem and fix it.

You can also contact US Consumer Product Safety Commission at

I don't feel comfortable spending any more money with Slingbox, even if it cost only $19.99 plus free shipping. Any recommendation to buy it somewhere else for similar or better price?
