guys so I updated to 2.1.90 to see if there is any difference with freezing when viewing on my slingcatcher, and no difference…. I have to revert back to 1.4 again… frown

Anyone have a link to 2.1.90 so I can see what date they have for it, I need to edit the firmware for 1.4 for the same date so I can revert back….

thanks.

Using the Windows SlingPlayer stand alone 2.0.4.x program you can look in your Slingbox directory. Highlight the Slingbox and click on edit > Information

It wll bring up a screen with the firmware version and date.

nevermind I just remembered that we don't alter the date in the hex editor but the version #…. downgrading now…

This is seriously pissing me off… I have a slingbox that is completely worthless either for my iphone or for the slingcatcher..  I'm just waiting for HAVA to introduce their version of the slingcatcher so I can dump this piece of garbage…

Cured my stuttering Slingbox HD Pro slinging on wifi at home

I have been struggling to overcome freezing, stuttering streaming from new Slingbox ProHD via wifi at home  to IPhone, IPad. (I later found the same problem over Wifi to my Windows XP notebook) Streaming to LAN connected PC was fine. Nevertheless, after searching for solutions on line including this great forum I suspected ProHD firmware, IOS4 on the IPad/Iphone (Wifi problems claimed?????), my router firmware and most worryingly the possibility of leaking bulging capacitors.

Slingplayer on Iphone IPad showed low and very variable, fast fluctuating bit rates:  65 – 550 kbps and green dots between one and 3 (even got freezing with 3 green dots ) Freezing was bad on SQ.  HQ was impossible

I've changed ports on router services, updated firmware on router (Netgear 834G), downgraded Slingbox Pro HD firmware to 1.4.06 (not compatible with IPad Slingplayer) and back up to 2.1.90. nothing made things any better. In fact upgrading router firmware seemed to make thuings worse.

Finally I looked at my network connections. I use Devolo LAN plugs on 2 PCs, the router, a satellie receiver and the slingbox Some were standard Duo some were 85Mbps "High Speed" Duos.  Today I have upgraded to Devolo 200Mbps dLAN200's on router, slingbox and PC. The problem is resolved both SQ and HQ are completely OK.

I realise this is some way away from  steady streaming to SlingPlayer mobile on 3G – yet to be tested but its a result for me.

I hope this helps others grappling with similar problems

Thanks for the update.
I have had a similar problem with the Lan plugs and the Sling Link.

The first thing I do is take them out of the equation by connecting the Slingbox directly or via a wireless bridge.

Then if connected directly I know it's a problem with the Slingbox and not how they are connected.

With all the different ways you can connect a Slingbox into your network sometimes you have to eliminate the variables and kinda start from scratch.
