Hi all,

My Slingbox Pro is no longer slinging video.  It still slings the audio, but the video doesn't work at all.  It streams at about 120Kbps.   It used to work fine so I am wondering if it is a hardware problem.  It does the same regardless if it is my Mac client, iPhone client or Slingbox.com.  My Slingbox Classic works fine with my Mac client and iPhone client.

It has hardware version 1.34.0 and firm version of 1.4.20,  My Mac Slingplayer version is 1.0.10.272 and I have iPhone Version 2.0 running on an iPhone 4

Any ideas?  I am hoping for a bum power supply?  That was the problem I had with the Classic a couple of years ago.

Regards,

Steve

I wonder if its the composite cables, maybe try a different set?? Just a guess. Hopefully its not the connection that went out.

Same issue here with my SLINGBOX PRO, started right after the new year.  I have a lot of experience trouble-shooting so I have tried everything.  Past issue I had with this box was the speed drop issue which I fixed with a firmware rollback.  Tried that again here and did not help.  Tried a different router, no help.  Cannot get video through S-video, composite or coax to work.  Sometimes I get sound and a choppy / distorted barely visible image, other times it times out and cannot connect.  The player says "No Video".  I have tried 3 different players on Mac, Windows, and Iphone.  None work.

Another thing I tried was to make sure my Fios box was outputting the image with HDMI cable hooked up by taking the S-video, composite and coax cables to a TV, all three work.  One thing I did notice was that when I ran the composite and s-video first to the slingbox, then out to the TV, I did not get an image on the TV.  I did using the Coax but still, none will show a image on the Slingbox.

I am at the point where I am going to try replacing some of the capacitors like the other post suggested for the SB Solo but I am not very confident.  None of my caps look blown, I did some testing of them with a multimeter and a few gave me some funny output when they were still connected to the circuit board, but behave fine once I removed them.  Who knows.

Very frustrated at this point and really hating Slingbox and its lack of help on all of their issues.  They just constantly deny things are their fault.  The speed drop issue was a total nightmare as well.

Ill report back when I am done fooling with the new capacitors.

Wow, I have the exact same problems.  Too familar.

Slingbox pro hd working fine until December and then would only stream audio and never higher than 120kbs.  Prior to this had been streaming Michigan to Switzerland at 2.5mbs for 4 months.

after the new year, a friend was able to do a hard reset of the system.  This solved the problem from about Jan 10 to last Tuesday.  Now I intermittant signal never of 400kbs, generally around 120kbs but I have both video and audio.

He reset system again but it did not fix the problem this time.

laurenr,

Do you have a Slingbox Pro or a Pro HD? I don't normally recommend a firmware downgrade but more of a systematic diagnosis of the problem. If you want to downgrade you probably will have to do a step by step downgrade to find the one that works best for you.

I have the same exact issue all of you are having.  I tried many sets of cables, multiple inputs, and everything.  I never get video, I always get audio, and I never get a streaming speed over 100kbps.

The box use to work perfect until the past couple months when it's been like this.

My box was working fine, until I updated the firmware to v1.40.20 dated 4/30/2010.  So it HAS to be the firmware.  There is no way that I can find to reload the firmware, thinking that not all of it updated.  There is also no way to go back to the previous version.

It is easy to draw the conclusion that Sling wants us to buy new boxes.

My point is that Sling broke my box, so Sling needs to fix it by giving us all a free updated file to fix this issue ASAP.  Netflix is getting bad press for their decisions, it would not take much for Sling to get similar press over this issue.

Sling are you listening?

I realized sling corporate doesn't care too much about support of it's customers.
I have similar issue of Pro HD, where I get audio, but no Video.

It was working fine until about 12/31/2011 noon PST/US. Then for some reason, Pro/HD's BEST/HD quality stopped working while all other picture quality worked. After about 1more hours of watching, all the sudden, now no video works. This is wierld……….When I use sling mobile, I get audio, but no video. When I watch this on Sling webplayer(chrome+firefox), I don't even get an audio. Bit rate stays under 100 for some reason……(while the Solo I have setup to same video-audio cable split as backup gets 2800-3000 kbps).

Makes me wonder if this is issue of the capacitor blown like other people have had problem….
May be I should get a laptop cooling fan underneath like some people.
Anyone with similar problem?

So…
After about 10 hours of playing around, having my family recheck the cables and no work…..
I Fixed it!!!! and this is how.

I made another sling account with different email.

Made guest account and tryied to connect to it.

It failed to connect, but I noticed it was telling me error "Your band width was too low"

this was wierld because I never had that error before.

When I re-connected with my admin account, all the problems were fixed.

This is so wierld……..I know…..SB is like black box…….so unreliable. Too bad there's not much alternative.
Anyways, hope people can fix remotely all the problems. I think there are just too many hardware+software bugs. Good Luck>
I think I will place laptop cooler Mat+fan to avoid overheating.

It appears the Automatic setting no longer works for HD. Manually adjust the stream parameters – drop the video resolution and presto it does work and the bit rate comes back up.
