Hello,

I recently performed a hard reset on my SlingCatcher by pressing and holding the rest button for 10 seconds. Following this the Catcher welcome page won't show up on my TV.

I've tried pressing 'enter' every 5 seconds as the manual suggests but to no avail.

My TV even says 'mode is not supported' when previously it worked fine. Is this an easy fix or could it be something serious?

Thanks!

J.

From Sling's help article

No video or fuzzy video on your TV

  • Check the TV input source settings if your TV has them. It should be set to the same input that SlingCatcher is connected to. For example, if your SlingCatcher is connected to A/V Device 1 on your TV, set your TV to display A/V Device 1.
  • Redo all your video cables. Unplug them from both your TV and the SlingCatcher. And then reattach them, making sure that they are firmly in place.
  • If this is a first setup or installation, SlingCatcher may not be outputting a video format that can be accepted by your TV. Press and hold the OK and UP buttons on the remote control for 5 seconds. The “Return to Factory Resolution” screen appears, with the following settings reset:
    • The aspect ratio goes back to 4:3.
    • Your SlingCatcher’s resolution settings go back to factory defaults (480i for the US and Canada, 576i for UK).
  • If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
  • If HDMI isn't working for you – then try component instead.

Hey Brandon,

So far that hasn't worked but I am going to keep trying.

When I press and hold those buttons the IR and Network lights both start flashing. Is that normal?

Thanks again!

So…the problem was I was trying to re-start the Catcher using HDMI after a hard reset and only composite seems to work.

Now I see the recovery screen!

Success!
