Hi,

I recently acquired Slingbox Solo, which seems to be working OK so far. However, I have issue with SlingPlayer, both web and stand alone (v2). The problem seems to be some weird jaggy edges on the video – almost like anti-aliasing is switched off.

I don't have this issue in any other video; local video files, BBC iPlayer etc. all work OK. I have this issue on my work laptop running Windows 7 64bit with Intel gfx card as well as my home desktop running the same Windows version but with ATI Radeon HD4550 gfx card. Both OS's have Aero switched on.

I tried a few suggestions on this forum, such as copying files from the web's player into stand alone but it didn't seem to work.

I should add that my very old Pentium 3 laptop plays SlingPlayer video just fine – smooth and no edges anywhere in either web player or stand alone.

I tried updating graphics drivers and played about with various settings but nothing seems to work frown It just looks horrible. I've added the attachment to show you what I mean.

Any ideas?

CJ

Still no closer to resolving this. Both my old P3 Windows XP laptop and my parents' Windows XP PC play the video smoothly without any jaggies.

My girlfriend's Vista also plays this without any issues.

Any ideas anyone?

As far I know there are known issues with some types of ATI graphic cards, but it's strange that you have that problem with Intel graphis.

I use Slingplayer on many different desktop PCs as well as my notebook. Regardless of the installed Windows version, always getting better video quality with non ATI gfx cards !

Copying files from the web player helped on one of my desktop PCs. It didn't fix it, but at least the video quality is much better than before. The current setup here: Windows7 64bit, Slingplayer v2.0.4.522, ATI Radeon HD5700.

If you let me know your current version of Slingplayer and the files you copied from the web player we could compare.

Brandon – you didn't post the link smile

Also, I solved the problem on my laptop – kind of. I turned OFF Windows Aero and the image is now much smoother on my laptop – BUT only on the SlingPlayer Desktop. It's still jaggy on watch.sling… Also, I tried taking a snapshot of the SlingPlayer now but I cannot because the video is now overlayed rather than "rendered", so I just get a black box where the video should be. Maybe that gives a clue as to what's up?

Also, Facebook player's (flash basically) image quality is also quite good but the video itself keeps stuttering and is unwatchable.

I haven't tried it on my desktop machine yet but will post back when I do.

By the way, I had to have the Video Renderer set to 1 (VMR-7) in SBCore.ini for it to smooth out the video.

Is there a way to change this for online player?

Not that I know of. I believe you are stuck with how they have the online video render setup.
