Sling Media has had a SlingPlayer Mobile app available for Android for a while. They have now announced that there will be a specific app for the Android ‘Honeycomb’ Tablets. Although the regular app will work in “Compatibility Mode” this newly announced version will provide higher quality resolutions on the Android tablet.

Sling Media has posted a demo YouTube video, showing what seems to be a nice looking app running on Motorola Xoom. The Tablet app also uses the same custom remote look and feel that the SlingPlayer uses.

According to Sling Media the price of the app will be $29.99 the same as its other mobile apps.

According to the guys at AppAdvice Sling Media is waiting for iOS4.2 before releasing the mobile iPad app.

The said,

Below is a forwarded email we received from Anne Hohenberger, Pinnacle’s PR Manager when asking about an iPad app:

Hi!

iPad is *right* around the corner. We’re waiting on Apple to release iOS 4.2… please stay tuned.

Thanks for your email.

Kind regards,

Anne Hohenberger

Since apparently the  iPad OS 4.2 release is imminent it doesn’t sound like we have long to wait for a native Slingplayer iPad app.

Although we have been told it will only work on Pro HD and Solo Slingboxes, which is not surprising, it’s great news that the app will finally be released.

Slingplayer is now available in the Windows Phone Marketplace. The app, first demoed a few weeks ago, promised resolution “4 times that of previous Windows Mobile devices” which sounds impressive.

The downside is the price, but it is in line with all their other mobile apps at $29.99. That’s not unusual for Sling but it’s still a bit pricey for an app for TV. But hey, you need it, you now got it.

Let’s hear your comments and let us know how it works!

If you have a Blackberry Bold 9700 you probably have heard that the Bold 9700 will be getting OS6.0 in the near future. But if you have been waiting for a leaked version of  OS 6.0.0.344 has dropped for you to try.

If you want to try the leaked version you can easily find the download and how to install just by Googling  ‘Bold 9700 leak os 6′.  Naturally you are on your own if you decide to upgrade to a leaked version.

If you do you may be interested in finding out if the Blackberry Slingplayer mobile program will work with the new operating system.

We rolled up our sleeves today and decided to give it a try. After updating both our Blackberry desktop program, the Blackberry Bold 9700.  After a few tweaks on the Blackberry setup we were ready to try the Slingplayer program.

We used the Slingplayer Mobile  software version available at http://download.slingmedia.com/player/mobile/bb1013/US/SlingPlayer_bold_EN_US.jad This is version 1.0.0.13. There are other versions of the Blackberry Slingplayer programs out there but after  we rebooted the phone it worked great!

We connected fine, changed channels, etc.  The player program still has some lag when you access the menus or send a command but no worse than it has been before in the past.

If you do decide to leap into the leak.  :) at least you know the Slingplayer program will still work.

We are also hearing that this works on the Blackberry 9800 Torch. If you have a Torch let us know if that is true.

In addition, OS 5.0.0.1015 was leaked for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550.  We saw a mention that it allows you to use the keyboard again. This has been broken for a some time now.  He was using Sling Player Mobile  V1.0.11, which can be had here: http://download.slingmedia.com/player/mobile/bb1011/US/SlingPlayer_def_EN_US.jad and OS 5.0.0.1015 can be had here: http://www.bbleaks.com/2010/11/leaked-blackberry-storm2-9550-os.html

If you try out the new ‘leaked’ Blackberry operating system software and the Slingplayer let us know how it worked for you.
